Paintings

I often refer to painting as 'digging in the dirt' and sometimes have to stop myself from playing around too long in the rocks and roots.

My paintings are always a surprise. The process sometimes becomes such a struggle that I am pleasantly amazed when the end result 'sings'."

I paint where I am, whether the American Southwest, Northeast, or any points in between.  To me painting is 'digging in the dirt' - occasionally very strenuous but always a marvelous privilege.

Small Works

The addition of the Small Works Collection serves two purposes.  The first purpose is related to my personal productivity and the continued development of excellence in my work.  The secondary purpose as well as a perk, is to produce a group of artworks that are very affordable.  A small original is a great addition to an existing  collection or a beginning  collection .  These pieces also make wonderful gifts.

The 6x6 paintings are oil on panel mounted on 2x2 enabling them to sit or hang.  They are completely finished on sides and back with black paint and have hanging fixture attached.

Drawings

Drawing is like making velvet. I use the drawing tool to create the illusion of 3-dimensions. Many of my drawings are done on panel and inset into hand carved and hand colored frames. I think of these unique pieces as collaborations - collaboration of mediums and of execution - the best of two worlds, that of drawing and of sculpture.
